Excuses… Excuses…
Â
We think about change, we look from the sidelines… then we find every excuse in the book to let life get in the way. In essence, we are robbing ourselves of new life experiences. Reaching beyond ourselves means letting go of our self-talk and taking a chance.
We all do it at some point, talk ourselves out of something, telling ourselves what we can’t do… Self-talk can be the most destructive strategy in the play book, it can also be the most positive. Listening to ourselves can make the difference in living an enriching and fulfilling life.
I’ve listened to myself, to my clients and here are the top 5 excuses I hear everyday… I’ve answered them in my own way, can you answer yours?
1 – I don’t have time
Put it in our agenda, get a sitter and make a plan
2 – I can’t afford it
It doesn’t have to be expensive! Doing something new means changing 1 thing that we normally do in our everyday life. For example, let your hair down and curly, shorten your skirt or wear flamboyant nail polish!
3 – It’s too hard
How do you know if you’ve never tried it???
4 – What will people think?
You’d be surprised at how very little time people spend thinking about you!
5 – It’s scary
Yes, it is! Doing something new for the first time is always intimidating… only for a minute! Then the discomfort is over!
Do something new for yourself… Live your life on your own terms
