Halloween Aftermath!

Halloween evening was spectacular yesterday!  If you were out running the street with your children, you might have enjoyed the softness of the weather.  My children are grown, no more halloween for us, so instead, i went out and walked the street with my pup, to say hello to the neighbors, to the kids. A truly beautiful evening.  The little ghouls finally went to bed, the candy has been sorted and put away… the school bus came this morning… now what?

What happens to that candy you sorted out?  what happens to that bowl that has been put away, the one where temptation is calling.  We all know that the kids will forget about it in a while, that the sugar arguments will disappear within a few weeks… We’ve all been there.  But if you’re like me, when the kids were small, they may forget the bowl, but somehow, I ALWAYS knew it was there. And yes, it did call my name every now and again, and… well.. maybe more often than now and again!

Children and tv.. did you know?…

Busy lives, overloaded schedules and bringing work home.. tv is an easy way to keep the children entertained… but what is it really doing to them? I look at the playground in front of my house and it’s silent.  I walk down the street, no footprints in the snow of front yards. Long gone are the days when wet mittens and runny noses were the norm.  We see tv shows on how to raise a calm dog by keeping him active and engaged.. yet, we let our children sit idle and wonder why they are hard to handle..

Did you know?…

Each hour in front of the TV increased a child’s chances of attention deficit disorder by 10%,  research in the Pediatrics journal showed.
